EVERYONE’S DEFINITION OF BEAUTIFUL IS DIFFERENT, WHY CAN’T WE BE OUR OWN KIND OF BEAUTIFUL?
There are so many of us, who have tried to make a conscious effort to change themselves. Some say “CHANGE IS GOOD”, who am i to disagree.
Years and decades of changing and criticizing ourselves in sharp tones; often making comparisons with other people. (TAKE NOTE: Comparison and looking up to someone are two very different things)
ASK YOURSELF: “WHY CAN’T WE APPRECIATE INDIVIDUALITY?”
You don’t have to fit the parameters of someone else’s definition of “Beautiful”. Focus on what is important and abandon the preliminaries, let me cut to the chase by giving out points.
Let’s begin with,
ACCEPTING YOURSELF.
Enough of changing, apparently that hasn’t helped much so switch over to another method – try and be comfortable in your own skin. Accept yourself, the way you are. Flaws, talents, secrets, quirks, all of it and experience true liberation. The universe made you a certain way for a reason. Begin to be at peace with your own self.
Ellen Degeneres says- “Beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It’s about knowing and accepting who you are.”
STOP WHINING AND COMPLAINING.
Don’t expect others to pull you out of a pit. Everybody is way too busy in their lives and to begin with, why should you expect that in the first place? You are strong, responsible and independent. Take charge of your life. Don’t expect others to love and respect you if you can’t love and respect your own self. Leave no room for self pity and whining.
J.K. Rowling says- “Is ‘fat’ really the worst thing a human being can be? Is ‘fat’ worse than ‘vindictive’, ‘jealous’, ‘shallow’, ‘vain’, ‘boring’, or ‘cruel’? Not to me.”
STOP BANKING ON COMPLIMENTS.
There is no easy way to explain this one without hurting the ego. People easily get carried away, excited and hyped-up about compliments. The same people start to feel dejected when they don’t receive a good word of appreciation or God forbid-CRITICISM. Don’t let these go to your head. Don’t let other people define you. You know who you are, they don’t. Stop craving attention for after some time all the spotlight in the world will seem less to you.
Jennifer Aniston says- “You’re damned if you’re too thin and you’re damned if you’re too heavy… It’s impossible to satisfy everyone and I suggest we stop trying.”
HONOR YOURSELF.
Know yourself, explore yourself. What do you like and what you don’t. It’s not necessary to know every little detail about yourself, you can always escape gracefully by saying “I haven’t thought about it much/yet”. Honor your talents and strengths.
Beyonce says- “We all have our imperfections. But I’m human and you know, it’s important to concentrate on other qualities besides outer beauty.”
INCULCATE CONFIDENCE.
Nobody can lend it to you, nor can you buy it online, nor will it help you to read articles you will eventually forget. You will have to practice and inculcate confidence. Be around people who are your well-wishers, who mean well. Do not entertain any negativity in your life. Stand up for your self, be your own hero and never let any one slight you.
Bobbi Brown says- “How I feel about myself is more important than how I look. Feeling confident, being comfortable in your skin — that’s what really makes you beautiful.”
DO NOT APE ANYONE. YOU’LL END UP FALLING FLAT ON YOUR FACE. BE YOUR OWN KIND OF BEAUTIFUL. YOU DEFINE WHO YOU ARE.
